Suluada (Turkish: Suluada) is an island off Adrasan where our route began with a boat trip. We walked 6–7 km on land, so the sea journey took more time than the trail itself. This outing suits a summer day if the boat crossings and the return departure are confirmed in advance.

Trip Format
First, the group travels to the island by boat, then completes a walking section and returns by sea. The schedule, boarding point, and transport conditions must be agreed with the operator for the chosen date. Wind can alter the sea portion even when the sky above the coast is clear.
Six or seven kilometers allow time for stops by the water. At the same time, the boat sets a precise window for the walk. If the group is moving more slowly than planned, turn back with enough time in reserve before the agreed departure.
What You Will See
The entire day revolves around the sea and the island coast. The walking section lets you exchange the boat deck for a trail and then return to the water. The sun feels stronger in exposed areas, so shade for a long break may be limited.
Swimming depends on current conditions and the operator’s instructions. Even in calm water, choose a clear meeting point in advance. When people spread out along the shore, a short walk can easily turn into waiting for late passengers at the boat.
Equipment
- Enough water with a reserve is needed for the entire trip if resupply on the island has not been confirmed.
- A hat and sun protection will be useful on the boat and the exposed shore.
- Closed-toe footwear will help on the walking section, while a separate pair of water shoes makes it easier to enter from the rocks.
- Waterproof packaging will protect your phone and documents from spray.
- A light windproof layer will be useful during the return journey by sea.
Difficulty and Conditions
In terms of distance, Suluada is one of the easy outings in our archive. The main variables here are heat, sun, and marine logistics. Someone who comfortably walks 7 km in a city may tire sooner on an exposed island because of the temperature.
Before setting out, check the wind forecast and obtain confirmation from the boat operator. In our archive, the island is associated only with a sea crossing, so you will need a different plan for the day if it is canceled. This check prevents a wasted trip to the boarding point when it is not possible to go out to sea.
Our Hikes
- July 9, 2023: a boat trip to Suluada; 7 km on foot around the island.
- June 16, 2024: we repeated the boat trip and walk, covering 6 km.
Both outings took place in summer. This format combines a short trail with time by the sea, provided the group keeps to the boat’s shared schedule. One participant arriving late shortens the walk for everyone because the return crossing begins at the agreed time.
