Qué es el senderismo

Hiking is walking through natural terrain, usually on an established trail and within a single day. You might walk through a forest, climb to a viewpoint, or explore a new area. Before setting out, you need a clear idea of the route, the weather, and what you can comfortably manage.

Types of hiking routes

A route can be out-and-back, a loop, or point-to-point. You can walk alone, with friends, or with a hiking group. Some hikes take a few hours with a light pack; others fill a day and require a backpack. Difficulty depends on elevation gain, terrain underfoot, weather, navigation, and places where you can leave the route. The route name and distance tell only part of the story.

For a first hike, choose a short, marked trail with an easy return and plenty of daylight.
